EXPERIENCE
Music Coordinator/Director/Composer/Arranger/Producer/Recordist
I have directed and rehearsed performing organizations of all levels and sizes, from full professional orchestras and massed choirs playing to audiences of thousands to small beginning school bands. I have composed, orchestrated and arranged music for all of these ensembles, preparing as many as fourteen pieces for full orchestra and choir in a single production. I have also overseen the recording of many of these ensembles. I have produced independent recordings and composed and orchestrated underscores and accompaniment scores for musical theatre, film & television with full virtual and live orchestras. In these positions, I have overseen recruitment and contracting, administration and payroll, purchasing, scheduling, sound design and live audio. As a composer, I have been published nationally and done work for broadcast, including KNBC in Los Angeles, Disney’s Buena Vista TV, WB Network, Scorekeepers and Studio 51 Music Libraries, and Pacifica Music. I have also performed and recorded as an independent solo artist.
Online Experience: Pre-COVID19, I initiated online Music Theory instruction at Coronado High School in School District 11 and transitioned (with all of District 11) all of my classes, including performance ensembles, to online instruction beginning March of 2019. During the 2019-2021 pandemic I coordinated and produced the All District 11 Virtual Orchestra Concert, involving four high schools, over 120 students and community resources such as the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs.
Management
I have excelled in the oversight of different types of organizations, including groups of volunteers as large as 120 and management of paid staff from 8 to 40 people. In these positions, my responsibilities included team leadership, supervision of personnel, financial oversight, purchasing, planning, customer service and communications. I have also served in management, reporting to and coordinating with several up-line supervisors simultaneously in large organizations.
Leadership
I am skilled at setting vision and strategic planning, in a team environment, to achieve project goals.
Administration
I have been responsible for oversight of administration of several organizations. I am well organized and able to hold many details in play at a time, while retaining a global view of their relative importance to the projects at hand. I am also experienced in personnel mentoring, conflict resolution, recruiting, performance evaluation and dismissal.
Presenter/Instructor/Trainer
I have been an instructor and trainer for all ages, from elementary school classes through adult professional development and graduate level courses. In these situations, I have engaged in curriculum development, A/V presentation, conference coordination, and recruitment. I have presented and instructed in the public-school system, worship conferences, and for The Colorado Music Educators’ Association. I have provided instruction for The King’s College and Seminary, the New Life School of Worship, Integrity Music’s Songwriter Conference (2003), for The Classical Academy music staff (2008), the Pikes Peak Worship Summit (2002), Harrison School District No. 2, and Colorado Springs School District No. 11, among others. As an educational professional I have established new curricula in the areas of online instruction, digital music production and electronic music.
Law Enforcement
I trained as an Emergency Services Dispatcher Trainee for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office; August 2022-December 2022.
